Conic Sections
Plot circles, ellipses, parabolas and hyperbolas with live sliders, showing foci, eccentricity and asymptotes.
About
Plot a conic section. Inputs: `type` ("circle" | "ellipse" | "parabola" | "hyperbola") and parameters `a` (radius or semi-major axis), `b` (semi-minor axis) and `p` (parabola focal parameter, y²=2px). Returns the standard equation plus foci, eccentricity, directrix and asymptotes where relevant. Use for high-school conic-section teaching.
Parameters
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
type * | circle | ellipse | parabola | hyperbola | Conic type. (default: "ellipse") |
a | number | Radius (circle) or semi-major axis (ellipse/hyperbola). (default: 3) |
b | number | Semi-minor axis (ellipse/hyperbola). (default: 2) |
p | number | Parabola focal parameter p (y² = 2 p x). (default: 2) |
locale | en | zh | UI language for the rendered card. (default: "en") |
Examples
- Draw the ellipse x²/9 + y²/4 = 1 and mark its foci.
- Compare the eccentricity of these ellipses as b changes.
